Timken and other honoured companies are featured in the March/April print edition of Fast Company magazine and on its website, www.fastcompany.com.
The magazine recognised Timken’s innovations in the renewable energy sector, which is Timken’s largest end market. Specifically, Timken showed Fast Company magazine how it worked with customers to develop an innovative double-bearing solution for the world’s largest wind turbine spindle. Timken also developed a new alloy bearing steel made from 100 per cent recycled materials and innovated a heat treatment process where electromagnetic induction heating replaces conventional heat treatment furnaces for large components.
Ultimately, Timken is contributing to a sustainable industry by utilising sustainable processes to make sustainable products. The first turbines with this comprehensive solution are already in service in 2023.
