Description
General Bearing Corporation (GBC) was founded in 1958 by Seymour Gussack as an engineering-oriented supplier which designed bearings for a variety of special industrial applications.
In 1969, the Company built a manufacturing facility in North Carolina and moved its domestic manufacturing operations there. Bearings and bearing components produced at this facility were sold primarily to the automotive industry and industrial OEMs. In 1975, the Company formed its Distribution Division, which sold the Company’s full line of products, both manufactured and imported, to industrial distributors throughout the U.S.
General Bearing has the capability to manufacture a wide variety of standard catalog and engineered bearing products.
In our OEM product offerings, our primary products are radial ball bearings and tapered roller bearing (TRBs). These products are offered in both standard catalog sizes and engineered special application products.
Specially engineered products can be designed utilizing these basic bearing manufacturing capabilities. Precision cylindrical components for universal joint cups (UJC) and rocker arm rings are examples.
Our Aftermarket product offering consist of tapered roller bearings for the heavy duty aftermarket and specialty engineered railroad bearing assemblies and components.
Once again specialty engineered products are also available based on the same bearing manufacturing capabilities.
Products offered to other Bearing Manufacturers fall into two categories:
- Finished or semi-finished bearing rings
- Forging components and finish precision balls
